At least 76 people were killed when a plane with 81 on board, including the Brazilian soccer team Chapecoense crashed near Medellin, Colombia on Tuesday.
“It’s a tragedy of huge proportions,” Medellin Mayor Federico Gutierrez said in an interview on his way to the site in a mountainous area outside the city where aircraft crashed.
The plane was just five minutes away from its destination when its pilots issued a distress signal to control tower, citing an electrical failure.
The last recorded tracking signal from the plane had been received when it was at 15,500 feet, about 30 km from its destination, at an altitude of 7,000 feet.
According to some reports,Chapecoense players Alan Ruschel and Danilo are among those pulled alive from the wreckage.
