Class Suspension

MANILA, Philippines – Some school administrators and local government units have announced class suspensions on August 23, 2017 (Wednesday) due to the inclement weather condition brought by the southwest monsoon. An magnitude 5 earthquake also struck some places in Visayas earlier leading to suspensions as well

Here is the list of areas and schools with class suspensions.


  • Ormoc City, Leyte – (Due to the magnitude 5 earthquake)

At 4:00 pm today, the center of TROPICAL STORM “ISANG” was estimated based on all available data at 375km west of Basco, Batanes (20.4ºN, 125.2ºE) with maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 137 km/h. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 25 km/h. Southwest Monsoon affecting Southern Luzon and Visayas.

Monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides is expected over Ilocos Region and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro and Palawan. Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and possible occasionally heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning due to thunderstorm will be experienced over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies except for isolated light to occasionally heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning will prevail over the rest of the country.
